Summary: It's a dark night when Yamapi meets him: Jin, a mysterious guy lying on the street, unconscious. But who is this guy he carries home? What is he? What's the secret behind his being? After one night he is gone...and Yamapi is left alone with all his questions. Born as a Hunter, Pi shouldn't question his life... but he can't help it. He has always been different... He takes the risk and leaves for a journey which might not have an end.
Meanwhile Jin struggles for his own destiny... together with his brother Ryo and his friend Jun. But how far are they allowed to go? Trying to pass the borders of their existence they try to find the truth... and their fate.
Can you decide on your own destiny?
Takki jumped a bit, looking around in high concentration. He tried to hear and see what Ryo was seeing and hearing… but he was merely a Human Being, his senses worked in a different way.
Ryo pushed him back a bit, forcing him towards the sea. At the same time his heart was hammering against his chest like madly. He would be able to save himself of course. He wasn’t that skilled like his brother, but he was powerful enough to escape a bunch of Hunters… but Takki was a Human. How to save the both of them?
He saw them before Takki could see them, the shadows of the men that called themselves Hunters and had lost all their purpose of living. They were merely hunting… there was almost nothing inside them anymore that reminded one of the days that had been once. The Beings they had been once.
Ryo turned around with a swift movement, grabbing Takki’s hand… and running. Takki’s eyes widened in shock when he saw the men chasing behind them. He realized that Ryo was holding back because he wanted to save Takki here and that Ryo could easily escape if it was just him alone.
“Leave me alone, Ryo.” he said softly, wanting the other to escape.
“Forget that.” Ryo hissed almost angrily, showing Takki a glare that made the latter wince for a moment. Ryo looked almost hurt.
“But I want you to be safe.” Takki tried to convince him.
“Yeah, and I want YOU to be safe.” Ryo frowned. “So guess what. Together we’ll never be safe. And alone we won’t be safe any more either… That’s our curse for doing something that’s forbidden.”
It was rare for Ryo to be that analytical and Takki couldn’t help but agree to the other’s words, so for the sake of their love he did his best to run and follow the young Vampire in front of him.
Takki felt his heart hammering against his chest, he had never run that fast before… but with Ryo at his side and his strength as a Vampire he totally surpassed all his abilities. But now he was slowly reaching his limits as a Human.
Apparently Ryo felt it too, because he paused. He looked down at the ground, considering his options, then he turned around.
“What?” Takki asked silently. “Are you going to fight them?”
Ryo smiled almost sadly. “Yes.” He looked around, seeing how they were slowly approaching them in a circle. Hence it was no surprise for him when the first guys jumped forward, running towards them.
To his luck Ryo was strong. Small but strong. And he was part of an old Vampire family, he could fight for his life. At the same time he tried to protect Takki as good as possible, but out the corner of his eyes he could see how he got hurt.
Something inside Ryo’s heart kept screaming in panic at that. What if he wouldn’t be able to save Takki? At this moment Ryo didn’t realize how loud his scream really was and how desperate. The more he was surprised when he realized it. He could sense something in the air, suddenly understanding that someone had heard him. And not just anyone…
Ryo paused nervously. His eyes widening, his heart almost stopping. He looked around, realizing that the men around them had sensed it too.
It…
Ryo closed his eyes, fear spreading through his body, because he knew what IT was. It was dark anger and pure wrath, wearing the body of his brother, when he ran towards them. Ryo could see it in his eyes that he knew… everything, also about Takki.
“Run.” Ryo whispered.
“What?” Takki blinked in confusion.
“Please.” Ryo begged. “Run!”
Takki wanted to argue that, but something in Ryo’s appearance and in the way he was talking didn’t let him to. It told him that it was too important. And that this time he would bring them all in danger if he stayed. Hence he complied with Ryo’s wish and did what the latter had asked him to. His heart clenched in fear and in anger about himself. Why was he so weak? He couldn’t protect Ryo. He would never be able to do that? At the same time he was almost dying of worry. What would happen now?

“Oh.” Mika blinked. „You are wearing the necklace permanently now?“
Yamapi smiled warmly. “Yes, because now I know its purpose. I can carry it properly and support it… and fulfil its task, which is also my own task.”
Mika smiled at these words. “This makes sense. So you wear it to be prepared?”
“Exactly.” Yamapi smiled almost proudly. “Now that I know how it works and now that I know my own abilities… not that I already reached all of them, but I know them… Now that I realized these things, I’m able to carry it. It will show me when the time is right… and then I’ll be there and give my best to save them.”
Mika chuckled out of a sudden. “When did you become so mature?”
Yamapi glared at that, while Kimura merely laughed, putting an arm around his wife’s shoulders. “So…” he smiled a bit. “Then let the necklace lead you to… the place we have to go to.”
“Great.” Mika sighed in relief. “Finally we know where we are actually going to.”
“Yes dear.” Kimura kissed her forehead softly. “Now we know where our travel will lead us to.” He looked down at his bag, thinking of the letter the professor had written him. One of the last witnesses of what had happened many many years ago. With him everyone who lived during that time was dead… and also the curse that made them stay quiet over this secret died with them. He sighed a bit, missing his teacher and hoping that he would rest in peace. He decided to make a little grave for him once they had reached their destination.

Sho stared at the sea in front of him almost apathetically. He had never expected Jun to open up in any way. And now he had suddenly given him a sign… he had opened up. Just for a short moment and not completely, but he had told him something important.
And Sho couldn’t help but feel hurt. Not by Jun’s words, but by the look in his eyes. For a moment Jun had looked so sad and tired, almost broken. And it had made Sho realize that he wouldn’t be able to erase these feelings inside Jun. No one would.
This was what Jun had meant. He wouldn’t let anyone come that close to him ever again. Apparently he had a person close to him once. Sho didn’t know what had happened, but he knew that it had messed Jun up enough to make him like that. To make him appear emotionless and fierce. To simply take what he wanted to have.
But it was the first time that Sho realized that Jun never wanted to be that way. He hated it to treat another person like that, to simply take whatever he wanted to have. In the end he was just erasing his pain.
Sho relaxed his fingers a bit. He had clenched his hands to fists earlier and they started to feel a bit cramped. He looked down at his hands, wondering what he would be able to do with them… for Jun.
He could run away of course, before it would be too late. But…was that really what he wanted to do?

When the first lash of Jin’s whip hit Ryo’s back, he threw his head back in pain, his mouth opening like he wanted to cry and yell in pain. But in the end, he didn't. His fingers cramped around the chains, trying to give him some balance. But still… he felt like falling. Deep, deep, into a comfortable black sea. It was better there than to face the desperation around him.
Ryo wanted to cry so badly, to beg, but he couldn’t. No sound escaped his lips, just tears were dropping down his face. He also didn’t cry when the next lashes hit him and the once after that where he had already stopped to count. They were cutting their way into his soft skin, the blood running over his back was engulfing him in some overwhelming pain and warm that made him shiver in fear. He wanted to cry but he couldn't... it hurt too much. Not only physically, but also psychically.
Because this was the monster Jin, not his brother Jin.
How far would he go?

i love the first scene where Ryo is doing his best to save himself and Takki from the hunters. He is sharper somehow, more aggressive and it suited the moment.
Yamapi is more self-confident now and, but I wonder if he is too confident in his ability to handle the necklace.
Oh I want Sho to help Jun, even if they cannot be together in the end. And then it made me think that maybe Jun can help Ryo and Jin. Somewhere there is hope. I will wait to find out where it exists.
Poor Ryo, he is just enduring this torture, waiting for it to end, Waiting for his brother to come back. Of course we don't know how hard Jin tried to fight his angry feelings. I think it will take so much longer for him to forgive himself for what he's done. I thought about this for a long time after I read it. It stayed with me this chapter. Thanks so much for this. Looking very much forward to the next.

It was so difficult to write Jin and Ryo like that. They are brothers after all and love each other and then suddenly Jin looses it like that. You are right, now Ryo feels helpless. He is just waiting for it to stop and for Jin to wake up.
I'm glad you also mentioned Jun and Sho.
We'll see if they are able to do something. Or Pi. Or Kimura.

I know you were already fearing for this update. It's such a dark day for the brothers. You are right, Ryo for sure feels hurt now and sad and broken and misunderstood.
It's true that Jin promised to fight this darkness, but there are other powers leading him now. He needs to be strong, because you are right... he will for sure regret it if something happens. Well, it already did happen, right? If Ryo makes it out of this alive, they will have a lot to do to heal their relationship.
