Ohno stared at the others in honest shock. Yesterday, everything had been perfect, yet today had been a horrible mess. “I can’t believe it…” he breathed out.
“Neither can I.” Nino agreed silently.
“But… I mean… how… why…”
Sho rubbed over his face nervously. “That’s how these families work… It’s always been like this. I was just lucky.”
“But what about Nino and Aiba?” Ohno wanted to know, his sharp eyes looking at Nino insisntely now. “Why don’t they have these problems?”
“Because…” Nino sighed, blushing slightly. “I’m only one son out of many. My father has 7 children, two daughters, five sons. I’m not the oldest son and I won’t inherit my father’s business. Besides, there are so many of us my father is used to me being the black sheep of the family. As for Aiba… he is just lucky, his family is really open-minded. Quite rare, by the way. They want him to live his own life.” Nino paused. “With Jun it’s different though. Jun lives in a golden cage. Don’t get tricked by Jun’s self-confident and firm appearance. That’s not all there is to it. Actually, he’s always had it pretty rough.”
“He is his father’s only son.” Sho explained. “And he wants him to take over his business one day.”
“But that’s…” Ohno paused helplessly, his eyes sparkling in anger. “Not what he wants…”
“We know.” Sho mumbled.
Nino frowned angrily. “Like his father would give a shit about what he wants…”
“Nino.” Sho breathed out. “You can’t say that out loud.”
“Of course I can dammit!!” Nino hissed. “I understand that you can’t say anything because you’re marrying Sakura-kun, but for me it’s different.” He shook his head. “Jun has almost gone crazy. I’m just glad that Masaki is with him.”
“Is there no solution?” Ohno asked in desperation, slowly feeling how the numb feeling in his body disappeared and left place for something stronger, for a more painful stinging that almost took his breath away. He didn’t want to let Jun go. How was he supposed to do that? How would he be able to manage everything without Jun? Jun was just… he had become so important in his life, it was impossible for Ohno to think of living without him.
“Unfortunately there is nothing we can do…”
Nino let out a sigh when he heard Sho’s last words. “He won’t marry.”
“What?” Sho blinked. “He has to.”
“Listen to what I say.” Nino shook his head. “H-E-W-O-N-T-M-A-R-R-Y! He never will. You know Jun, he isn’t a guy who let’s himself be locked up. You might not remember it, but I do… Every stupid time when we were teenagers and got grounded for something, Jun always crawled out of the window of his room and came to our places to drag us along…. Putting us in some more troubles.”
“Oh yes.” Sho snorted dryly. “I remember those days… and those troubles.”
“What I want to say is… Jun isn’t the type of guy that can live with being locked up. He’s like a wild bird that wants to be free.” Nino paused. “He won’t accept it when someone wants to lock him into that golden cage, he won’t let someone do that to him. He’s like your father, Satoshi.”
“Eh?”
Nino shrugged. “Ohno-san, your grandfather, got into endless fights with your father because he wanted to marry a poor girl…” he paused, shrugging a bit. “Actually, Sakura and Jun found out about it and told me about it when I dropped Aiba at Jun’s place earlier.” He smiled warily. “Ohno-san gave his approval to his son’s marriage.”
Ohno jumped up. “WHAT!?”
“He gave in because your father was about to pack his belongings and leave forever.”
“But I don’t understand.” Ohno breathed out, feeling like his head was bursting. “Why did my father leave then?”
“Because there was a condition to it.” Nino smiled slightly. “Ohno-san wanted your mother to take several marriage preparation classes.” He paused. “And that wasn’t the only problem. He also wanted them to wait for 1-2 years before they would marry.”
Sho stared at Nino in disbelief. “Are you for real? But… one year isn’t that long…” he paused. “Why did they have to wait anyway?”
“Because it was the time of the company’s election.” Nino explained. “Ohno-san was one of the candidates running for president back then. The last thing he needed was a family scandal.” He sighed slightly. “Your father didn’t want to wait, Satoshi, so he left.”
Ohno stared at his friend in disbelief. “But… that’s…” He looked at Nino. “If they endured it for just one year, my parents would’ve been allowed to stay together?”
“Yes.” Nino shrugged. “They were supposed to keep it decent until your mother would be ready to be… well… presented to society.”
Ohno let out a sigh of frustration. “I don’t get any of this. Why did they want to get married so quickly? Why did they need to be ‘presented to society’?” he ranted, his eyes gleaming angrily. “But what I also don’t get is why my father simply left. He was allowed to marry her after all. It’s not only about my grandfather here, though he clung on to those stupid traditions. But my father… he could have spared my mother a lot of problems… It was just one year! Maybe they would still be alive if they had decided for a different way.”
Nino winced a bit at that, feeling like Ohno had hit a point here. Then he sighed. “He didn’t want to wait. He didn’t want to be locked in. He didn’t have the patience.” He paused. “Jun won’t let himself be locked in either.”
Ohno looked at Nino in horror. “Are you saying that Jun will break off from his family?”
“WHAT!?” Sho called out, his eyes widening in shock, before the realization finally hit him. “Oh my god, Nino, you’re right…”
Nino looked at Ohno warily. “Are you so surprised?”
“But…” the latter shook his head in desperation. For a moment he felt like everything was overwhelming him. He bit down on his lips in pain. “I can’t let that happen.” he said firmly, looking at Nino in determination.
“Listen!” Sho said unusually fiercely, making the other two blink in surprise. “I’ll tell you something. You want to break up so that Jun won’t be forced to leave his family. Am I right? That’s what you are thinking about right now.”
“Yes.” Ohno answered firmly. Jun's happiness was more important to him than his own. He didn't want him to break with his family or with his father.
“You do know that he will marry then and he will live an unhappy life, a life he doesn’t want to lead, something that might drive him crazy one day. Something that will make him very unhappy. You know that, right?”
“But…” Ohno shook his head tiredly. “He will leave his family otherwise. How can I be responsible for that?”
“I know what you intend to do. You want to sacrifice your own feelings.” Sho interrupted Ohno again. “But I’ll tell you another secret.” He smiled warily. “Jun hates self-sacrifices. So does Sakura. I also had to learn that first, when I got together with Sakura. We got into some serious fights because of that and maybe, if hadn't learned it, we wouldn't get married now. Jun is the same. He hates things like that! More than anything else… Don’t dwell in this desperation. He won't thank you if you leave him. It's more likely that he will hate you if you let him go. He wants to make his own decisions, just like he wants you to make your own decisions. Let's not forget that Jun is off way worse at the moment than any of us and he is still keeping it together and figuring what to do together with Sakura and Masaki. If he can be strong, you should be strong too. You want to stay at his side after all, am I right? Then be a guy who is strong enough to help my best friend through this horrible situation.”
When Sho had finished, Nino blinked for a moment. Then he chuckled. “Wow! I think I’ve just figured out what the beautiful and flawless Sakura might like about you.” When Sho hit him with a pillow, he giggled, before he became earnest again. “But Sho is right. My fault for not figuring this out myself. So guys, let’s think properly, okay?”
Ohno stared at the wall, Sho’s words still wandering through his mind. He bit his lips, knowing Sho was right. He should become a guy who was strong enough to also carry Jun’s pain as well, because that's what it meant to be at one's side. For a moment he dozed off, his thoughts wandering off. “Wait…” he breathed out, his eyes gleaming out of a sudden.
“What?” Nino asked softly.
“I have an idea!!”
******
“I can’t believe that.” Sakura breathed out, angling for some ice. “What did you say?”
“That I’m not going to marry.” Jun mumbled, his arm covering his eyes while he was lying on the sofa.
“And?”
“He got mad.” Jun explained simply.
“And then?” Aiba asked carefully, unable to hide the miserable tone in his voice. Jun was precious to him after all, seeing him like this broke his heart.
“I got mad too.”
“You two…” Sakura mumbled silently, pressing some ice against Jun’s face. “I can’t believe he hit you.”
“Well…” Jun mused, trying to sound sarcastic, while he actually felt hurt. “…I guess he’s wanted to do that for years already.”
“And now?” Aiba asked silently.
“I won’t marry.” Jun stated simply.
“Did he agree to that?”
“Of course not.” Jun snorted. “But I’m not going to marry. He can’t force me.”
“I just don’t understand.” Aiba stuttered. “Why does he want to get you married so fast? You are still so young. You’re in your 20s, it’s early for you to marry.”
Jun smiled warily. “I spent a lot of time with Satoshi…”
“And?” Aiba frowned.
“He knows.” Jun explained silently. “He’s not stupid. As long as I was fucking around with girls, he was content. But suddenly he gets stressed and wants to rush things. Why do you think he would do that?”
“Yes.” Sakura agreed nervously. “He isn’t stupid.”
They stayed quiet for a moment, before Aiba coughed a bit. “But… what are you going to do, Jun? Don’t tell me you want to leave… That’s…” he paused there, unsure of what to say, feeling incredibly sad.
“Hey…” Jun smiled softly, sitting up a bit and tugging at Aiba’s sleeve. “Aiba-chan, don’t cry, okay? No matter what happens, I’ll always be your friend.”
Sakura pulled her knees up to her chest, resting her head on top of them. “This is my fault.” She mumbled. “I basically introduced you to her.”
“Oh please…” Jun sighed, lying down again. “It’s not your fault. How should you have known? And if it hadn’t been Yuri, Dad would have found another girl. For him, she’s exchangeable anyway… he just wants to have me standing next to a girl.”
“This sucks!” Aiba blurted out. “Why does it have to be like that?”
“Well…” Sakura smiled nervously. “You are lucky, Aiba-kun. Your parents are so free-minded and want you to live your own life… they accept you, no matter what. But with me and Jun, it’s different. Our actions aren’t always accepted… It’s only if we keep up the masquerade, that we are acknowledged.” She paused. “Jun being a womanizer always pleased our father, because it showed that his son was wanted, loved and popular. A little bad-boy image is good for his reputation, but as things are now, it’s different.”
“Exactly.” Jun agreed silently. “Still… I’m not going to marry.”
“I know.” Sakura mumbled, rubbing her temples, wondering how they were going to get out of this mess. She didn’t even want to say it out loud, and neither did Jun. He couldn’t tell her to her face that he was actually about to leave their family as he wouldn’t agree to this marriage. He wanted to spare her from this news, but in the end, this was were the story would eventually lead them to.
******
“Why, hello.” Ohno-san smiled a bit. “Satoshi…What a rare guest!” He turned around to the man who was sitting next to him, sipping at his whisky. “You already know Sakurai-san, am I right?”
Ohno snorted a bit at that. “Yes, I won’t forget him any time soon.”
Sakurai-san chuckled. “It’s nice to meet you again. I heard that you and my son became good friends. I was really glad to hear that.” He paused. “You are feeling comfortable and at ease here, I hope?”
Ohno smiled. “Yes, of course.” he agreed, his sharp eyes not missing the relieved expression on his grandfather’s face.
The old man leaned back a bit, scanning his grandson. “So…” he mused. “You have a problem, correct?”
“Eh?”
“You’re looking nervous and incredibly troubled. There’s something on your mind… Even I can tell that much.” Ohno-san explained bluntly, while also sounding encouraging. “So?”
Ohno swallowed hard, shifting around a bit. He then took a deep breath, hoping that his little plan would work. “I need to talk to you…”

Ohno willing to sacrifice his relationship with Jun just so Jun won't have to cut ties with his family is understandable especially if that was the only plan he could come up with. Thankfully that is not the case. And I just hope his plan works.
It's nice that Ohno is actually willing to ask his grandfather for help. Their relationship has improved a lot and that gesture showed how he trusts his grandfather.
Can't wait to read the rest of the chapters.

You are right the conflict between Jun and his father is similar to the one Ohno's father had.
Ohno is really willing to do a lot for Jun... but it wouldn't have helped him if he sacrificed his feelings, right? Good that Sho was there :D
I hope you will like the remaining two chapters <3

Poor Jun - so determined... What will happen next???????????
I have learnt already, that your motto is "expext unexpected", so I am really curious ;-) I will not be surprised if Oh-chan will come up with something like gender-change^^
no subject
Well, Ohno has an idea ^^
But I somehow got the feeling that some here think he might bungee jump down to Jun and carry him away (Now, that would be awesome, wouldn't it? ^^)
The plan is actually not all that huge ^^
Okay, I'll stop rambling now! :D

It must have been such a shock for Ohno!!! Poor him. D: *hugs* Oh, but the messed-up situation. >_<
As a ray of light in this, I want to point something out.
Sho-kuu~n!!! <3<3<3 I LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!!! :D
Like, really, what's with all the cheesy "I have to save him from his miserable fate by sacrificing myself" stuff? It makes me feel sick. Not to mention that Sho is so right, when he says that it won't solve anything. So, thank you, Sho, for being a character, who will bring in the needed reason. I understand it's a dificult situation, but there has to be a good solution for it. Finally, a plot that doesn't need stupid old patterns. I also hate when characters do stupid stuff like that. So, I'm very much looking forward to Ohno's actual plan now. ^^
Hm... The thing about Ohno's dad and hsi grandfather... It sounds a bit fishy. I wonder, did Ohno probably have something to do withthe decision? I mean, rebel, or not, when you're generally close to your parents, you wouldn't simply act impulsively like that just because you're goingthrough the motions. Can't wait to get the whole story.
OMG, POOR JUN!!!!!! T_____T
I can't believe his dad hit him. Really, no matter what, you absolutely cannot hit your child. Never. I always feel very repulsed by physical violence in any form. Even a slap is something that can't be sxcused just like that. But to hit your child... Just no.
And to top it off, Jun is determined to break out. I mean, I can totally understand him. He doesn't want to lead a miserable life, probably making his wife miserable too.
Oh, so Jun's father knows now. I'm really hoping that I'm not having a "vision" again, but a thought that hit me immediately was "after Jun told him what he thought if this marriage and if he hits his own son like that - what is he going to do to Ohno?". I mean, it would be only too natural to approach the "problem" and try to get rid of it, one way, or another, right?
Oh dear, I really hope Ohno has come up with a good plan. @_@
I totally can't wait to see how this continues. ^^ Thanks so much for this update, it's fantastic!!! <3
no subject
Really, I totally agree with you. What's with that kind of sacrifice? And what's even worse, most of the time they just break up and don't even give a reason. That's the point that annoys me the most: When you take away the possibility for the other person to understand and tell you his/her own point. You just sacrifice your feelings without even giving the other the chance to react to that.
I know, Jun's father is not exactly the most likeable charcter here ><
But Jun knows quite well what he wants. So maybe Sho/Nino are wrong... Even if Ohno had sacrificed his relationship, Jun might not have decided to marry.
Okay, so much discussing about a fic :D
Thanks so much for pointing this part out, dear!! It was so important to me <3
*huggles*
PS: Somehow I think people are imagining Ohno's plan to be something like: He bungee jumps down and grabs Jun and carries him away ^^

can't imagine if they have to be apart
looking for other 2 chapters, thanks for this ^^

Thanks so much for your comment, dear!! *huuuuuuuuuugs*

I am really glad that Sho and Nino convinced Ohno to fight for them and not to let Jun go. I totally agree with them, it wouldn't have been a good way to act like this.
I am curious what Ohno is going to do now. It looks like he is searching for help?!
Jun is really cool here. Stubborn, but cool. :D Ohhhh, poor Aiba, he shouldn't cry. ^_^ *lol*
Thanks soooo much for the update, I loved it. <3
*hugs*

I know, it sucks when parents want to force their opinions on their children. Poor Jun >< But he is strong...
And Ohno gladly won't sacrifice his feelings for Jun's sake. <3
Yay, glad you like Jun <3

Anyway, as always, thanks for this chapter! ^.^ I missed this fic…
I can’t believe Jun-kun’s father hit him… He is so irrational… I think Jun-kun will have to leave home…
Satoshi’s love for Jun-kun is heartwarming! He even went to talk with his grandfather! I wonder what his plan is… Also, I can’t believe his father had the approval to marry but even so he left the family… I hope his grandfather will explain this better…
Finally, all the friendship of the five of them is touching, as expected of Arashi! ^.^
Thanks again for this chapter and I hope to be able to read the next one sooner…

I'm always so happy when I see one of your comments <3 And I'm really glad that you are still reading and enjoying this story <3
These two definitely came a long way here, right? Jun is not that easily giving up on Ohno. And Ohno won't give up that easily either :D
