Summary: Tokyo, 1981: A young bride disappears, leaving no trace but an old necklace out of jade. No one has seen her, no one knows who she is. The woman that never existed.
Tokyo, 2011: Jin, a talented photographer, is known for his sixth sense when it’s about photos and other person’s emotions. When he gets the offer to work with Tokyo’s Criminal Investigation Department, he moves to Tokyo, together with his 16-year-old brother.
There he starts to work together with the skilled, but eccentric young detective Kamenashi Kazuya.They are part of the department for Cold Cases, where forgotten and never solved cases are investigated again. Despite their first rather bad impression of each other, they soon learn that their skills complement each other almost perfectly.
The case they are working on seems mysterious, but harmless: Jade, the woman that had been erased from everyone's memory. But soon Jin and Kame realize that with this case they are awakening a sleeping lion, bringing themselves and everyone they love and care for into danger. They suddenly fall into a network of intrigues, murders and threats. On top of that they are both hiding something from each other and from everyone else... something no one is supposed to know...
Kame smiled a bit when he saw how Jin was rushing down the street, waving at him. “Morning.”
Jin bowed apologetically while he was panting heavily. “Morning!” He looked at the other sheepishly. “I’m so sorry!! I am late, right?”
“A bit.” Kame told him, but didn’t sound half as annoyed as he normally would. He grinned a bit, actually feeling really refreshed and amused now. He patted Jin’s arm. “We don’t need to hurry, by the way.”
Jin blinked. “Why? Aren’t we already way too late?”
“No.” Kame grinned mischievously. “I kinda figured out that you would be too late. So I made you come here one hour too early.” he chuckled. “Ryo-kun gave me this advice yesterday evening.”
“He did?” Jin frowned. “Wait till I come home, little brother.”
Kame smiled at that while he walked into the building together with Jin. “You are a bad actor. It’s obvious that you are not mad at all.”
Jin leaned back against the wall of the corridor, smiling almost shyly. “You are right. I can’t be mad at him… I always fail at scolding him or getting angry with him. He is my precious and beloved one after all. I have no one else besides him.”
“I understand.” Kame smiled sympathetically. “You are brothers after all.” he agreed. “You have to be close and stick together.”
“Yeah, I need to watch out for him.” Jin smiled warily, his thoughts far away. Kame frowned at that, wondering what Jin was getting so worried about. He had never seen such a bothered expression on his face before.
“Everything alright?” he asked carefully.
Jin blinked for a moment, then he smiled brightly. “Of course. I was just dozing off. Let’s go for a coffee…”
Kame frowned when he followed Jin. The latter was looking the same as always again, but there was something… Kame had worked as a detective since a long time now and he knew when people were hiding things. Was Jin hiding something? Not that he himself was that opened up either. Maybe he shouldn’t look too much into Jin. Because then Jin might look too much into him in return.
Jin stayed quiet when they were waiting in the university’s corridor, a cup of coffee in their hands. Apparently he was still lost in his thoughts. Then he smiled out of a sudden. “On Sunday it’s Mother’s Day, right?”
“Yes.” Kame nodded his head, surprised by the sudden change of topic.
“Ryo and I are visiting our mother’s grave. Why don’t you come along too? Or is your mother’s grave somewhere else?” Jin asked friendly.
Kame blinked at that question. He actually felt really surprised and also touched that Jin considered him in such a way and invited him to such an intimate visit. But he was also feeling nervous about the invitation. Whenever he thought about his family, he felt sad and sick. He had never really gotten over the loss of his mother. He didn’t want to share these broken feelings with anyone. Hence he didn’t know what to answer, but to his relief Jin apparently caught on immediately and apologized for being insensitive.
“I can’t believe how long he is letting us wait.” Kame mumbled in wonder and slight anger.
“I asked his secretary some minutes ago and she said that some of his students are giving their oral exams right now.” Jin explained.
“Yes.” Kame frowned in annoyance. “A three hours exam? I believe…not.” With that he stood up, opening the door to the secretary’s office, ignoring the woman and heading to the office of Yamamoto-sensei. He opened the door with a fierce movement before the secretary could even stop him.
“Kame-kun…” Jin followed him, bowing towards the secretary. “You can’t…” he paused out of a sudden when he saw so-said Yamamoto-sensei, sitting in his chair.
The secretary glared at them. “You two… you can’t…”
Before she could say anything else, Jin grabbed her shoulders, pushing her back. “Don’t come closer…” he mumbled, his eyes twitching slightly. “Don’t…”
Kame still stared at the professor in disbelief, before he approached him slowly, his hands shivering slightly when he took in the picture in front of him. He angled for his gloves, trying to fight back his emotions – it made things easier that way. “He is dead…” he mumbled after checking on the man’s pulse.
“What!?” the secretary squealed, rushing into her professor’s office. When she saw the dead man in his chair, as if he was asleep, she grew pale, her hands shivering like crazy.
Jin grabbed her arm, pulling her back, glad that he was able to do something that was distracting him from the sick feeling in his stomach.
“Kame…” he mumbled. “There is blood.”
“Yes.” Kame nodded his head, looking at his partner warmly. “Just call the ambulance and our chief, alright? I’ll do the necessary things here…”
“Okay.” Jin sighed in relief, glad that he could do something, while Kame would check the location.
The latter frowned when he was looking at the things on the man’s table. There was a small knife, traces of blood on it. He sighed deeply, knowing where this would lead them to: There would be no traces anywhere, just the man’s fingerprints on the knife… No other traces, which meant the police would announce it as suicide.
In times like this he hated his job. Because it was not fair.

“I can’t believe this…” Jin mumbled in annoyance when he and Kame walked down the street. “Suicide?”
Kame sighed tiredly. “All traces have been wiped away. This was a really proper work. A genius…”
Jin frowned. “A genius?”
Kame stayed silent for a moment, then he sighed. “I don’t know for sure of course, but for me it seems like it was someone used to doing the dirty work, you know?”
“You mean, someone was paid to do it? And there is someone else behind this whole thing?” Jin asked in surprise. “I don’t understand this! I mean…it’s just about one single person, a young woman. Why is it so bad to find out the truth about her?”
“That’s one of the big mysteries of this case.” Kame agreed, a frown appearing between his eyebrows, his ambitious character pushing him forward again. “I need to solve this…”
“Yes.” Jin nodded his head. “It’s your job after all. We’ll solve it.”
Kame smiled slightly at Jin’s confidence, before he sighed a bit. “I don’t feel comfortable that you get pulled into this now…”
Jin wanted to answer, but he got interrupted by some noises around them. His sharp eyes wandered over the area, trying to figure out where the scream came from. Then his eyes grew wide in shock, his body tensing up immediately. Right in front of him he saw a well-known dark-haired boy, struggling against a man, who kept pulling and pushing him around. “RYO!” Jin yelled in shock, dropping his bag and rushing towards the scene. For a moment the man looked surprised, staring at Jin in disbelief, then he let go of Ryo and rushed away, as fast as he could. Too fast for Jin.
Jin stopped when he saw how Kame passed him, chasing the man now. Jin turned around immediately, heading back to Ryo. He hugged his little brother in deep worry. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah… I think so…” Ryo stuttered, trying to sound confident, while fear was still clear in his eyes.
Meanwhile Kame was running as fast as possible to catch the man, his eyes gleaming in fury. Why did this guy bother an innocent kid like Ryo? This was unforgivable! Kame was unexpectedly fast, though he was rather fragile and thin, but he was sportive. During his years with the police he had trained a lot after all.
When the guy reached the end of a street, Kame grinned a bit. The man had to stop – it was a dead end. Fro a moment Kame felt joy flooding him; finally he would be able to catch one of them! This was his chance – they shouldn’t bother Ryo again, or Jin. He was rushing towards the man, reaching out for the handcuffs in his pocket. Then he paused out of a sudden, seeing how the guy was moving his hand a bit. Kame’s alarm clocks were ringing immediately. What was this guy up to? He should be fast and catch him before he could call help! But before he reached him, he realized that the guy wasn’t angling for his phone, but for something deep inside his pockets. Could it be… ? Kame’s eyes widened in shock, his feet trembling. He wouldn’t, would he? It was still daytime, the sun was shining!
No way! They couldn’t hurt him, they never hurt him! As fast as possible he tried to angle for his gun too, pointing it at the guy too. For a moment they were eyeing each other, their guns pointing at each other’s chest. Kame’s breath was going heavily, his hands feeling wet. He wouldn’t kill this guy, but maybe he could hurt his arm so that he would be distracted. He was about to follow this plan, when his sharp ears suddenly heard a clicking, followed by a much louder sound. As fast as possible Kame pointed the gun at the other’s arm, pulling the trigger. Something inside Kame stung out of a sudden, a warm and fuzzy filling him.
“What was that?” Ryo mumbled in fear when he heard the noise of a gun.
Jin’s eyes widened in worry. “You stay here, okay?” When Ryo nodded his head, Jin headed the same way Kame had been running down. His heart was hammering against his chest in fear. It couldn’t be, right? Kame for sure was alright! Maybe it had been Kame shooting at the guy? And not the opposite way round…
He was panting heavily when he reached the end of the street, his eyes immediately catching the blood on the street. He was almost paralyzed for a moment, but then he felt fear and shock spreading through his body, when he saw a slender figure lying on the ground, not moving at all. “KAME!” he yelled, rushing towards the other man’s side. “DAMN! We need an ambulance!” he took off his jacket, pressing it against Kame’s bleeding wound, so that Kame wouldn’t loose too much blood. “Someone call an ambulance!”

Oh nooooooo....Kame-chan!!! Jin, safe him, do something, now.....I hope Kame is alright, and the ambulance is quick...help him.
I am wondering what's going on here, because that's all so mysterious. I can't figure out how everything fits together, so I will patiently wait for the next chapter before I start guessing around here. ^^
The beginning is so sweet where Kame tells Jin to come an hour earlier, because he already guessed that he'd be late. And of course it was ryo who told him this fact.*laughs*
And the thing with the grave is so sad. Poor Kame-chan. I think during reading I had a real absurd thought: Maybe Jade is Kame's mum? But that can't be, so throw this thought away. ^^
Oh, and there is something with Jin's family too, isn't it?! Something is off...
I am really curious about the next chapter, because I want to see my Kazu safe. But turtles have a hard shell, right?! *laughs*

i'm glad that Kame's getting a bit warm now. he's not a snarky and cold as he used to be. i think jin's handling him pretty well. that's good! i knew they will start to get a long. and they are actually getting along now, especially that Kame already takes the time to look at Jin and notice how his expressions change and all.
so i was right. ryo and jin being brothers is really important. *celebrates* i knew it! i knew it! and everytime jin has to talk about his brother, i can feel that something is wrong aside from the fact that they will surely get into trouble. I wonder what that is, though. If he smiled warily while saying that he needed to watche out for the kiddo, i would only think about two things: either he doesn't really want to and watching out for ryo was just an obligation OR there is something wrong with him or with them that has happened in the past. But then, given how much Jin loves his little brother scratches out the first option so I'm 100% sure that something is wrong. What happened to Ryo or to the both of them before? Why is he so damn protective of RYo that he tries to be mad at him even because of the slightest thing in the world? Kame, you should have asked, beause I'm really curious.
I pity Kame, it's hard for him to talk about his family, right? I know there's a connection to the story, I mean the girl. It's either the girl is Kame's mom or JIn and RYo's. But I have a stronger feeling that it's Kame's. LOL! Am I assuming too much? Well I don't care. I will find out soon, anyway. 3 months and all the mysteries will be solved! (yeah, I kinda calculated, you know. Given that you have 17 chapters and 1 chapter per week. do I sound desperate, now?)
Kame's right. It's unfair. Suicide, huh? I bet not. The opponent is seriously doing something to fight Kame and now Jin. I think the people who did this to sensei is from the same group of people watching Kame. He knows them, somehow. I'm not sure if Kames knows he's being followed because of this case but I thnk he'll realize that after what happen.
I felt nervous when I heart JIn call Ryo's name. WHy the hell harass a kid, guys? I bet Ryo'd be affected. And Jin's worried again. Somehow, I'm feeling tired for JIn. He's always worrying about Ryo. :(
I'm not fearing for Kame's life here. I have a feeling that he will wake up soon cause it won't be senseless if he falls into coma or something and leave all the job to JIn, right? Ryo and Jin, I like this combination as brothers. It fits that Jin is the older one here, always watching out for Ryo. I feel like my heart would stop if I saw one of my siblings being pushed around by a stranger. I like how we find out more about Jin and Ryo's relationship through Kame and Jin's conversation.
The professor is dead--where will this lead them--there were no clues.
