Summary:
Out of a sudden Yoko wakes up in the middle of a wide desert, white sand all around him, just a lake and a single tree next to him. After freaking out and panicking he has to give in to this situation. Is it a nightmare? Is it reality?
When Sho, a mysterious man, suddenly appears, Yoko’s questions grow even further. But then, out of a sudden, he can’t remember it anymore. What is he fighting for? What is reality, what dream? Is Sho an enemy or his friend?
He starts to forget about the fundamental questions of his being: Why is he here? What is this place? Who is he? But then out of a sudden another young man appears, different than Yoko and still the same… remembering Yoko that he is supposed to fight - for something that he can’t remember anymore. The path between reality and dream is a small one… and a dark one. And the price Yoko has to pay might be more than just his life.

Yoko looked at Sho piercingly. “What did Ryo mean? Why was he so afraid of your presence?” He looked at Sho insistently, trying to read the other’s stoic expression. He frowned. In Sho’s eyes there was something sad, something tired, something uncomfortable… but also something really confused.

“I…” Sho paused, rubbing his temples. “I don’t know why he knows me…” he mumbled.

Yoko rolled his eyes. “Is that so impossible? I know you too after all…”

“That’s because I’m yours.” Sho explained silently.

Yoko blinked in confusion. “What?” he shook his head. “What are you talking about? You mean you belong to me?”

“Not like that.” Sho smiled sadly. “Maybe it’s the best if you see it like that: I belong to you. I’m part of you.”

Yoko hid his head behind his hands. “It’s getting so confusing.” he mumbled. “When I woke up here, I panicked, I was so confused and afraid. But right now… I’m not afraid anymore, I don’t feel sad. Why? I should feel sad. I should miss my family and my friends. Where are these feelings inside me? Are they gone?”

Sho stayed quiet for a moment, then he shrugged helplessly. “I can’t give you these answers…” he mumbled.

“Yes, yes, I know.” Yoko grumbled in frustration, almost pouting. “Because you are not allowed to tell me. Blah.”

“No.” Sho smiled a bit over the other’s almost adorable expression. “I don’t know the answers. Only you know them.”

Yoko looked at Sho in confusion, then he sighed, realizing that this here was about him. It were his feelings, his friends… he was the one who should fight for them and for his memory. He looked down at Ryo, whose head was lying in Yoko’s lap right now. Yoko’s long fingers brushed through Ryo’s thick hair. He sighed a bit, remembering the guy’s frightened and shocked face. Make him go away…

Yoko turned his head towards Sho, looking at him thoughtfully. “Can I trust you?” he asked out of a sudden.

“What?” Sho blinked.

“Are you my friend?” Yoko asked with a steady voice. “Can I trust you?”

Sho stayed quiet for a moment, looking at the ground sadly. “I’m not your enemy.” he finally told Yoko. “But if you can trust me… I don’t know. It depends on what you expect me to do?”

“I expect you to take me away from here. To take me home.” Yoko answered bluntly.

“Then…” Sho smiled tiredly. “You shouldn’t trust me.”

Yoko frowned at that answer, suddenly realizing that though Sho was next to him, he still was alone. It was his dream here, or his life. Whatever this here was… reality, dream… he didn’t know it and he could just find it out on his own. But one thing he wasn’t allowed to do: He wasn’t allowed to give in to it. He didn’t want to let go… he didn’t want to loose all these precious memories he had.

Before Yoko could say anything else, a shadow appeared next to him. Sho’s eyes widened in surprise. It wasn’t exactly fear in them, more surprise and slight shock. “You?” Sho mumbled.

Yoko turned around, eyeing a man, wearing the same dark clothes like Sho. His expression earnest but still warm. Still…something inside Yoko felt uncomfortable. Whenever he looked at the unknown man, his stomach started to twist, alarm clocks ringing in his head.

The man ignored Sho and Yoko, instead he knelt down next to Ryo, his fingers touching the boy’s hair softly before he pulled him into his arms. “Finally.” he whispered. “I found you.”
