White Sand Chapter 3

Title: White Sand CHAPTER 03 (of 12)
Pairing: Sho/Yoko, Takki/Ryo (The pairings themselves are not that much the focus of the story, but don't worry, they will be here^^)
Rating: PG-13
Genre: AU, mystery, romance, bit angst

Multi-chapter
Disclaimer: I don't own them or anything else JE-related. But the story is mine of course^^
Summary:
Out of a sudden Yoko wakes up in the middle of a wide desert, white sand all around him, just a lake and a single tree next to him. After freaking out and panicking he has to give in to this situation. Is it a nightmare? Is it reality?
When Sho, a mysterious man, suddenly appears, Yoko’s questions grow even further. But then, out of a sudden, he can’t remember it anymore. What is he fighting for? What is reality, what dream? Is Sho an enemy or his friend?
He starts to forget about the fundamental questions of his being: Why is he here? What is this place? Who is he? But then out of a sudden another young man appears, different than Yoko and still the same… remembering Yoko that he is supposed to fight - for something that he can’t remember anymore. The path between reality and dream is a small one… and a dark one. And the price Yoko has to pay might be more than just his life.

Sho had made some fire… out of wood, which Yoko didn’t know where he got it from. Now they were sitting on a blanket, Sho looking up at the black night-sky, while Yoko was simply glad to have some light around him. And another person. Even though he didn’t know who this Sho-kun was, he was feeling a bit relieved. Because at least Sho was someone. Being alone was the worst. He even preferred it to be with someone dangerous than to be totally left alone.

“Why don’t I need something to eat?” Yoko asked out of the blue, remembering that he hadn’t eaten anything since days.

Sho pulled his attention back to Yoko, his eyes looking at the other piercingly again. Then he sighed a bit, a hint of a smile curling around his lips. “You don’t need something to eat here.”

“Why?” Yoko wanted to know.

“Are you always asking so much?” Sho asked in return.

Yoko blinked for a moment, then he had to laugh a bit. “Sho-kun… I’m sitting here in the middle of nowhere. I don’t even know the country or continent I am visiting right now. You appeared out of nowhere too… out of the middle of the lake, like a mermaid. Suddenly our surroundings are changing. It started with one tree, now there are five. There even is a little field, with flowers. Tiny flowers, but they are flowers. And you really wonder why I’m asking questions?”

Sho blinked for a moment, then he chuckled. “Alright, alright, I understand”

“So?” Yoko pulled his eyebrows up, looking at Sho through questioning eyes.

“So…what do you want to know first?” Sho asked. “But let me tell you one thing: It’s not granted that I can tell you everything. Maybe I might know less than you think I know.”

“Where am I?” Yoko asked to distract himself from Sho's inscrutable answer.

“I can’t tell you that.” Sho sighed.

"Because you don't know?"

When Sho stayed quiet, Yoko took a deep breath. “Then let’s start with something easier.” he mumbled tiredly. “Why am I not hungry?”

“Because you don’t need anything to eat at this place.” Sho explained.

“So, this place isn’t real?” Yoko asked in surprise.

Sho tilted his head a bit. “I can just give you clues.” he explained. “You have to put the pieces together yourself.”

“Great.” Yoko complained. “Like in a role-playing game…”

“A what?” Sho blinked.

“A computer game genre.” Yoko explained randomly.

“Ah.” Sho made, shifting around a bit.

Yoko looked at the other for a moment, then his eyes widened. “You don’t know what this is… a computer game?”

Sho sighed. “Sorry…”

Yoko blinked in surprise, then he smiled slightly, glad that he had found something to talk about. Something that would distract him a bit. A normal and random topic. “I see… we have to catch up a lot here.”

Sho looked at the other in confusion, then he smiled slightly. “You can try it, if you want to.”

Yoko nodded his head a bit. “But first…” he knitted his eyebrows in determination. “I would like to find the answers to my questions… So… why is this place changing constantly?”

Sho smiled. “Maybe you are changing it?” he suggested

“What? How!?”

Sho pointed at Yoko’s forehead, tapping against it. “Don’t underestimate this here.”

“My mind?” Yoko asked in confusion.

“Yes.” Sho leaned back a bit. “Maybe it's like this legend, I heard once: The more you get into this, the more you are creating it…”

Yoko wanted to say something to that, but he didn’t know what to say. He didn’t understand a word of it. And it didn't help much that Sho wasn't giving any clear answers at all - he just kept this inscrutable attitude, giving confusing hints and strange suggestions.

Yoko frowned. So maybe he was the one changing this place? Why? How? With his mind? And while he was there…what happened to the real world? Why was he even here? Who brought him to this place? He looked around nervously. This place… though it had been frightening him at the beginning… there was something familiar about it too. Had he been there before?

Yoko sighed, standing up. “I’m going for a walk, alright?”

“Sure.” Sho smiled, his dark eyes never leaving Yoko’s frame while the latter was walking by the lake.

Yoko shivered a bit when he felt the other’s glance. It felt a bit cold… but not exactly uncomfortable. He just wondered where the heck this Sho-kun came from? Was this a joke or a game or something like that? A dream?

He knitted his eyebrows, staring at his surroundings gloomily, not understanding at all what was going on here. Yoko’s gaze wandered over the landscape, inspecting the few trees that had grown here, out of the sudden… while he hadn’t even realized it. He was about to walk on, when something caught his attention.

“What…” Yoko blinked, pausing in shock, his heart hammering against his chest like madly.

Could that be!?

Right in front of him, under the palm tree he had been waking up some days ago (were it days or months?), there was a young guy lying, apparently asleep. “Hey…” Yoko hurried to the boy’s side, his hands shivering when he touched the guy’s shoulder, but the other didn’t move. He seemed to be asleep. Yoko touched the boy’s black hair, inspecting his pale face, the frowns on his forehead, his fragile figure. Somehow he felt frightened out of a sudden – not by the boy, but by the situation. By the atmosphere. There was something lying in the air that almost made it impossible for him to breath. Who the heck was this boy? Why was he giving him these chills? Why did the air feel different out of a sudden.? Yoko shivered, feeling how the frightened feeling from his first day here overwhelmed him once again. “Sho-kun!! HELP PLEASE!!”

Sho was at his side immediately. He ran so fast that Yoko was actually surprised. He hadn’t thought that Sho would care for him in any way, but there was a strange glance in his eyes… as if he was worried.

“What happened?” Sho breathed out.

Yoko looked at Sho nervously, pointing at the boy on the ground. “This… who is that?” He had expected Sho to say something inscrutable again or to shrug it off or to not give a reaction or answer at all. The more he was surprised by Sho’s reaction.

“WHAT... How…” Sho yelled out, shivering slightly, before he bent down a bit to look at the boy. “That’s impossible!” he breathed out to Yoko’s surprise. “This shouldn’t happen!”

Sho looked shocked, surprised, nervous, panicked… and it made Yoko feel really uncomfortable.

Though Sho wasn’t giving him any answers, though he was weird and quiet and mysterious, he at least made him feel calmer and a bit relaxed. But when he saw Sho’s shocked expression, he almost looked human. He looked like a normal guy… a normal person… not someone who would be able to save him like a super hero, to take him home.

The answer hit Yoko hard. Sho had no idea what was happening! He didn’t know who this boy was… so if he didn’t know anything about the boy, would he know something about this place? Would he be able to help? Or was he just as clueless as Yoko himself!?

Since when was this Sho-kun at this place anyway? Was he living here? Was he a bad guy? A good one? Yoko shivered a bit, wishing that Sho would be like before again… not like this. Not shocked or surprised or nervous. He wanted Sho to be mysterious. Because right now, Sho was like him.

He was like him… Was he? Was it possible?

A/N: Someone new appeared... Poor Yoko doesn't get a break ^_^

Okay, this gets more and more exciting. I am really curious where Yoko is and what is going on here.

I still believe that Yoko is in his own mind or something like this. He is able to change the place he is in...so maybe Sho is part of his imagination?

But something or someone seems to break into the world and it seems this wasn't planned. Maybe like a black hole where someone slipped into, so maybe the boy (which is Ryo, isn't he?) came here to save Yoko? Or he is here because he tries to flee from something or somewhere? So maybe Yoko flees too?

So many questions....*sighs* *laughs*

Thanks soo much for this update, I love this story, it's so amazing thrilling and I am sooo curious. ^^

haha I can't believe sho didn't know about computer games. I like how sho and yoko are getting closer. And I wonder if sho can't tell yoko because that would end up with yoko leaving? And sho doesn't want that because he'll be lonely or if sho literally can't say because he doesn't know.
I wonder who this new person is.

I like how you make Sho in the fic... the fact he was naked in the beginning and when Sho tells Yoko that maybe his mide was making all of this... I thought...so maybe Yoko MADE SHO NAKED IN THE BEGINNING!!! XD

hmmm... this... is quite intriguing that for the first time i don't know wat to comment 'cuz i just wanna read on... quite a mean cliffhanger btw!!

my guess is ryo is da new guy. don't really have a guess on wot sho's role is to yoko, but perhaps some form of guardian, and yoko has the ability to create this world black or white...

ryo might be the dark force but might not know it yet... hahaa random guessing

Hello, here I am. I love this update. Sho is simply awesome, I love when he loses it when Ryo? appears.

First, i would like to say that midway through this chapter, I was thinking how lucky Yoko is that Sho appeared and not some old woman who would hit him in the head every time he asks a question. ha ha. But still I am sure it is upsetting. It is even more upsetting when you are not required to do the normal things that keep you alive, like eat.

I love that Sho is so cryptic and seemingly not human, and at the same time he is worried about Yoko. I feel like Yoko's mnd is protecting itself somehow, only providing what Yoko absolutely needs. I think he knows Sho and Ryo? in real life but something is stopping his mind from being fully aware of it. Just a guess.

Ypu really have us going with these twists and turns. I love this, it's a really great puzzle. I hope Ryo? wakes up soon--and I can't wait for Takki. So excited for the next.

Hugs, hearts and palm trees. :D :D :D <3<3<3

hello there. i found time today to read what i have missed so far. school's really tiresome so i thought i needed a break. i promised that i'll read this when 3's already up so here i am :)

i love the mystery of this story. thinking if i would be yoko scares the hell out of me, you know. being in a place you don't know is really weird and scary. i feel yoko. all the confusion must be making him insane. but i'm glad that sho somehow was making him feel a bit comfortable of the place. that's a good start.

and why is sho really shocked about ryo's appearance. so there must be something wrong with the 'system' of this mystery? hmm. we'll see how the 'boy' affect this story. he's an important character here, right? i'm so excited to know more about him :)

thanks for this update!
