Disclaimer: I don't own them or anything else JE-related. But the story is mine of course^^
Summary: Out of a sudden Yoko wakes up in the middle of a wide desert, white sand all around him, just a lake and a single tree next to him. After freaking out and panicking he has to give in to this situation. Is it a nightmare? Is it reality?
When Sho, a mysterious man, suddenly appears, Yoko’s questions grow even further. But then, out of a sudden, he can’t remember it anymore. What is he fighting for? What is reality, what dream? Is Sho an enemy or his friend?
He starts to forget about the fundamental questions of his being: Why is he here? What is this place? Who is he? But then out of a sudden another young man appears, different than Yoko and still the same… remembering Yoko that he is supposed to fight - for something that he can’t remember anymore. The path between reality and dream is a small one… and a dark one. And the price Yoko has to pay might be more than just his life.

Note: The chapters of this story will be a bit shorter than what I usually write. Simply because the story itself is intense enough.
“Hey Subaru…”
“Hm?”
10-year old Yoko raised his arms into the air. “It feels like flying, right?”
Subaru frowned. “What feels like flying?”
“This.” Yoko smiled. “If you look at the wide beach, all the sand, with the sunset behind it, it will make you feel peaceful. One day I want to fly…”
Yoko stumbled backwards, dropping down on the ground, his eyes never leaving the surface of the water, following the shadow that was moving inside it. He shifted around a bit, tensing up almost painfully. His heart was hammering against his chest, he could almost hear the sound of it in his ear. For a moment he had even forgotten the panic and fear he had felt just seconds ago when he realized that this wasn’t a dream. But now all he could do was staring at the water’s surface, a safety step away from the lake. What was this… thing? An animal? Here… in the middle of the desert? Impossible!
Out of a sudden Yoko felt like crying again. For the first time he realized it that he was all alone here. No one was around. He couldn’t call his friends… he couldn’t look after his brother. He couldn’t visit his best friend Subaru… there simply was no grumpy Subaru next to him right now. It was impossible.
Some nights ago he had still had so much fun with his friends. It was Subaru’s birthday and they went out all together, the whole group, and some co-workers from the school they were working at. And now, suddenly, here he was. What happened? Why him? Why did he have to be alone here? With no one else… no one who could accompany him. No support. No help. No friends. No comfort.
This was a nightmare.
A splash pulled Yoko’s attention back to the lake. He wiped his tears away, stepping a bit closer. “Oh my god…” he breathed out, before he pulled back again. Hair? He was sure that he had seen hair… “What…” His eyes widened in shock when the water moved, waves splashing into his direction. Then it was silent, the water not even moving a bit. Yoko widened his eyes in surprise at the picture in front of him. Out of the completely calm water he could see a head… slowly appearing… getting more and more visible. A face. And then shoulders. Until a whole guy walked out of the water. His skin was white, no clothes covering him. His eyes were wearing an almost sleepy expression, but also an earnest one. His hair was dark, so were his eyes, a contrast to his white skin.
He was so pretty that it made Yoko gasp at this image, for a moment he even forgot to think about what was happening here. The guy had simply taken his breath away. Was he hallucinating here? Because of the heat, because of his desperation, because of his confusing surroundings?
“Hi…” he whispered.
The guy looked up to him, his eyes scanning Yoko piercingly, inspecting him from head to toe. Just when Yoko started to feel really uncomfortable (What if this guy was an insane killer? He just came out of the lake after all…), the guy opened his mouth to talk. “Hello, Yokoyama-kun.”
Yoko blinked in surprise and shock. The guy knew his name? How? Why? They had never met before… “You… know me?”
“Yes.” The pretty guy stretched a bit, his still wet body glimmering in the sun. Then he sat down on a rock to dry his hair in the sun-light.
Yoko blushed a bit, staring at the perfect body in front of him. “You are not wearing anything…” he stuttered.
The guy pulled an eyebrow up, smiling slightly. “Obviously not.”
Yoko blushed even more, then he pointed at his shirt. “Want to have my shirt?”
“No.” the guy chuckled, pointing at a palm tree close to Yoko. “There… don’t you see it? There are some clothes.”
Yoko gasped in shock. Where did the second palm tree come from? When he came to this place last night there was nothing… no second palm tree, no clothes. Nothing! He had checked on the whole area after all.
What the heck was going on here!?
“Who are you?” he pressed out.
The guy smiled. “You can call me Sho…”
Yoko frowned deeply. “And what are you?”
Sho stayed quiet for a moment, then he looked up at the sky. “I’m here.” he told Yoko, his voice sounding soft, though he was not even close to answering Yoko’s question. When Yoko merely kept staring at him, Sho looked at him directly. “And what are you?” he asked in return.
Yoko blinked in mere confusion. How was he supposed to answer that? Should he answer it like Sho did. “I’m also here I guess…” His eyes twitched nervously, the presence of this Sho intimidating him. When Sho kept looking at him through these questioning eyes, Yoko shifted around. “I…don’t know… what… where…”
“You are lost.” Sho mused. It sounded more like a statement than a question.
“I guess so.” Yoko mumbled, looking around a bit. Then his eyes widened. Wait? What did Sho mean with that? Lost like: Lost in this desert? Or lost… in general? What did he mean?
He frowned, looking around nervously. “Why a desert?”
Sho smiled his inscrutable smile. “You tell me! I don’t know why you are here…”
“Eh?”
“Do you have any connections to this place… any associations?” Sho apparently tried to help him.
“No.” Yoko shook his head. “Not that I can remember…”
Sho sighed a bit. “Remember…” he mumbled. “Yes…”
Yoko looked at him in wonder. What was going on with this guy? He shook his head, rubbing over his head. What didn’t he remember? Did something slip his mind? What was it? Why this place?
“Last night, I dreamed of it again. I want to fly. Over a huge prairie full of sand, behind…above…in front of it nothing. Just me and the sun.”
A/N: As promised, next chapter will introduce a new character. ^^

feel so bad for yoko when it came back to him in the dessert XD
"Why did he have to be alone here? " I can seriously
understand his pain here, you wrote is to well!
I was never expecting 'sho' at least I think it's him from the
way you described him to come out of the water XD Poor yoko, he would
have gotten such a shock. Oh yes I was right it's sho *dances*
oh his dream is being fufilled, oh no be careful what you wish for yoko.
Does that mean Sho is some kind of genie? Or did he wish for something too but he can't remember?

It's a different kind of angst here and I'm so glad it works for you!
It must be so bad to be all alone out of a sudden... I mean, not only feeling lonely, but actually being alone.
Yes, it's Sho ^^
At least there is someone else next to Yoko now. But we'll see if that's gonna be good or bad...
I like your ideas about Sho. But, well, I won't say anything about it - I don't want to spoil the fun ^^
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! *huggles*

My favorite part is when Yoko offers his shirt, and Sho laughs because of course there is another set of clothes under the second palm tree that just appeared.
I really like the connection to young Yoko and his childhood dreams or fantasies--I am so curious as to how this will turn out.
i also think one of the best parts happens at the end of the chapter when Sho tells Yoko that he is lost. Not that he is in a dream or a nightmare, but that implying somehow he got sidetracked when he was on a journey. I guess it could be a mental journey.
Can't wait for the next chapter and find out about the new character.
Hugs, hearts, and open doors. :D :D :D <3<3<3

*lol* Of course Sho is naked! ^_^
Poor Yoko...he for sure was embarrassed. And still he tries to be polite and nice...and to cover his own embarrassment by offering his shirt ^^
I'm really glad you liked the Sho/Yoko talke. It was really important! And I love your idea about what this whole setting means.
Well, we'll see^^
Thanks so much for reading, dear! And for your amazing comment!! *huggles*

I really want to know what's going on here. Is Yoko in a kind of dream world? Maybe he is unconscious and needs to get back to real life and Sho is his boyfriend in RL? Or maybe it's something more "phantasy" like and Yoko landed in a different world?
I am really curious how this will go on, and what will be the real reason for everything.
Thanks sooo much for this chapter *bighugs* *hearts*

I like your ideas about Yoko, but well, I can't say anything, right? ^^
It would spoil the fun XD
