“Okay...I guess we have a problem.” Yamapi sighed. “Besides that I'm hungry.”

Ryo leaned against the wall. “And I want to take a shower. I haven't taken a shower since days.”

Yamapi smiled a bit over this random answer, then he sighed again. “I guess they are searching for us...”

Ryo closed his eyes, biting his lips nervously. “I don't even want to know how worried Aniki is right now.”

Yamapi looked at him thoroughly, then he sighed deeply. “Sorry...” he mumbled.

“For what?” Ryo wanted to know.

Yamapi sighed guiltily. “In the end it was my idea.”

“Come one...” Ryo rolled his eyes. “It's not like I said something against it, right?”

Yamapi smiled weakly. “But the idea was mine...”

Ryo looked at him, thinking a bit. “Yamapi?”

“Hm?”

“There is something on my mind… but I’m wondering if it’s okay to ask this.” Ryo told the other warily.

Yamapi blinked in confusion. “Sure!”

“Why?” Ryo asked carefully. “Why did you come up with this idea? I mean I was glad you suggested it and came with me... But why did you suggest it? Why did you even think that something was off?”

Yamapi looked at the other nervously. “Ryo... what did you plan to do on the roof that day?”

“Eh?” Ryo blinked.

“You know, when I met you on the school's roof.” Yamapi tried to remind the other of their encounter at the school’s roof.

Ryo kept silent for a moment, his thoughts far away. “Sometimes I just dream of flying away…you know?”

“WHAT!?” Yamapi breathed out, feeling shocked about the answer, his hands shivering a bit.

Ryo blinked for a moment, then he sighed. “I don't mean it like that. I meant... that recently I felt like running away from everything that's bothering me. I was on the roof top because I wanted to be alone and get some breath to clear my thoughts. What did you think?”

Yamapi stayed quiet for a moment. “Well...” he stuttered. “You know... I... thought...well...”

Ryo's eyes grew wide. “Eh? You thought I would jump down from there?”

Yamapi shrugged helplessly. “Kind of.”

Ryo looked at him in utter shock. “Is that the kind of impression I give to people?”

“You know...” Yamapi told him. “You are rather closed. That's okay. Normally. But recently you were so absent-minded, so weird... your expression always bothered.” He looked at the other helplessly.

“Oh dear.” Ryo sighed in frustration. “I didn't even think of killing myself once. It's just... recently I started to remember things.”

“What kind of things?”

“Apparently stuff from my past. I don't even know what exactly I remember, it's just entering my mind whenever I don't expect it.” Ryo explained.

“Ryo-chan...” Yamapi touched his friend's shoulder. “You are running away from the truth?”

Ryo shrugged a bit, not sure if that was the entire reason. Maybe it was part of it. He didn't want to know what happened, he didn't want someone to care for him, he didn't deserve that. And what if knowing would change everything? What if Takki would leave him then?

“You want to know what I think about that?” a sudden voice interrupted the boys. Yamapi jumped up in surprise, looking around in utter confusion and shock.

“Who is there?” Ryo breathed out.

Yoko chuckled slightly. “I’m Yoko.” He explained randomly. “I'm a friend of your family. And a detective.”

Yamapi's eyes grew wide. “You are...”

Yoko sat down next to Ryo. “I was searching for you. I guessed you wouldn't leave Tokyo. Your money is limited... That's why an empty, deserted building is the first station.”

Yamapi sat down again, looking at the man curiously. “You are good.”

“I guess I am.” Yoko smiled. He patted Ryo's back a bit. “And I think you should face your problems and not run away from them.”

“True...” Yamapi mumbled, earning him a grin from Yoko and a glare from Ryo. He shrugged helplessly at that, a nervous smile on his lips.

Yoko got up, smiling at them. “Alright guys. See you.”

“Wait!” Yamapi blinked. “You are not dragging us home?”

“No.” Yoko told them.”

“Why?” Ryo wanted to know.

“Because I want you to return by yourselves.” the older man explained.

Ryo blinked at him in surprise. “How do you know we'll really return?”

Yoko smiled softly. “Don't you actually just want to go back?”

“You are so tensed up.” Ohno smiled, placing a soft kiss on Aiba's earlobe.

Aiba smiled softly, thankful for Ohno's attention. “Well  you know... there is work…” he paused. “And then these recent incidents.” he looked at the other lovingly, snuggling against him. “Thanks for helping me here, though you are not even related to Takki's family.”

Ohno laughed at that. “Of course I am. You are related to them, so I'm too.” he explained.

Aiba blinked at that simple answer for a moment, before he jumped up, clinging to Ohno out of a sudden feeling, kissing the other fiercely. “Thanks.” he smiled brightly, for the first time since years forgetting about his past. “You are actually too good for me.”

“True.” Ohno teased, laughing when Aiba pouted cutely. “Sorry. Just kidding of course.”

“And now?” Ryo looked at Yamapi sheepishly when Yoko had left them.

“What do you want to do?” Yamapi asked. “Do you want to go back?”

Ryo thought about that for a moment, then he chuckled a bit over this grotesque situation, wondering how he could have ever let everything escalate like that. It was like a different person had been living inside him. “Yes.”

Yamapi smiled in relief. “Oh dear... I'm so glad... I'm actually even missing Koichi's bad cooking.”

Ryo smiled weakly, putting a hand on Yamapi's shoulder. “Listen... thanks. Maybe it was a stupid idea, but thanks.”

Yamapi grinned. “That's the strangest thank you I ever got. And yeah...” he mused. “I guess it was stupid.”

Ryo smirked. “But I think it helped.”

“Alright.” Yamapi turned around. “Before we go back, there is still one thing to do.”

“What?” Ryo asked curiously.

Yamapi grinned, spitting into his hand and holding it towards Ryo. “Let's swear to stay friends forever.”

Ryo rolled his eyes, but did the same as Yamapi and grabbed his hand. “Forever.” then he paused. “And now?”

“Let's think properly...” Yamapi considered their options. “Let's go to my place, trying to meet Tsubasa first. Not Koichi! Koichi is too short-tempered, he will totally yell at us. But Tsubasa is the calmest of all. He hardly ever snaps!”

“ARE YOU TWO NUTS!!!!?” Tsubasa yelled at them with an unusual force, his eyes sparkling between anger, relief and...more anger. “Honestly Yamapi, since when are you so stupid? They are searching for Ryo since days. And when they told us that you are missing too, we went totally crazy. Even your strange teacher, this Nagase-kun” Tsubasa pointed at their tall teacher, who was sitting at the kitchen table right now, looking at them through his warm, but inscrutable eyes. “...was totally desperate.”

Yamapi winced a bit. “I’m sorry.” he mumbled.

“You better are!” Tsubasa’s eyes were sparkling in wrath as he turned around to his brother. “Why are you staying so calm Koichi?”

Koichi knitted his eyebrows, looking at Tsubasa thoroughly. “Because you are wearing an apron… That’s bothering me since weeks…”

“KOICHI!!!”

“Alright.” Koichi sighed, unusually calmly. He stroked over Yamapi’s hair, then over Ryo’s. It was a weird, because unusual, but also a very warm gesture. “We do stupid things sometimes, right? And we don’t know how to get ourselves out of such a situation, true? I did it too. You didn’t know how to come back, isn’t that true?”

They both nodded warily, Yamapi showing his cousin a thankful smile, swearing that he would never underestimate him again.

Koichi smiled a bit, turning around to look at Nagase. It was maybe the first time ever he didn’t make fun of the tall guy or pretended to be annoyed that he was there. Actually he was too relieved and too thankful to bicker with him. Nagase returned his smile. Just slightly Tsubasa wondered about this strange moment between these two guys, but then he sighed, deciding that there were more important things to do right now.

Nagase got up, walking towards both young guys and putting an arm around their shoulders. “Since when were you thinking about going back home?”

“Actually we didn't even want to leave at all...” Ryo admitted silently.

“See.” Koichi turned around to face Tsubasa.

“Well…” Tsubasa sighed, rubbing over his head. “Okay, you stupid idiots. I'll call Ryo's family.” he paused. “And I guess something to eat would do no harm.”

“What did you tell the school?” Yamapi wanted to know, fearing the answer that might come.

But Nagase was his old self again and started laughing. “Nothing. I already expected something like that and Goro-san and I decided to keep it a secret from the others. You are safe.”

Koichi blinked in surprise. “How did you know?”

“Well, it wasn’t long ago that I was a young, imprudent and stupid guy too.”

Ryo looked at the door, feeling afraid, nervous and impatient. It had been half an hour ago that Tsubasa had called his home. At least Takki had been reasonable enough to just take Takuya with him and let the rest of the family at home. He was pretty sure that Tsubasa was too tired and spent from this day to deal with a whole family-gathering.

Ryo was pretty sure that both Takki and Takuya would break all traffic rules to get here as fast as possible. Which would be… now. What would Takki say now? What would he do? Ryo shifted around, feeling totally uncomfortable. As much as feared Takki's anger he wished for him to be angry at him and not hide it behind a calm attitude. Ryo didn't need that at all... How else should they start through again otherwise?

Tsubasa smiled a bit, wanting to say something encouraging, but then he thought it would be better not to make the boy more nervous. “Do you want some tea?”

Ryo shook his head, smiling politely Yamapi had dropped into his bed after he had eaten something, too tired to stay awake and Ryo was pretty glad about that. He himself was way too nervous to feel tired though.

When there was a knock at the door, he looked almost relieved... and scared. Koichi was up his feet immediately, hurrying towards the door, opening it. Before he could even say anything, Takki had already passed him, not even seeing him. Takuya showed Koichi an apologetically smile, bowing politely, before he chased after Takki.

“You are back!” Takki stormed into the room, his eyes still filled with desperation and worry, but slowly also changing into wrath. His cheeks flushing with anger. Ryo flinched a bit and gulped. This here sounded like a lot of trouble. And he was right. Ryo whimpered, holding back a pained sound and some piercing tears, as Takki raised his arm above his head and cracked his palm across his younger brother’s face, leaving both a stinging painful feeling and a clear trace on Ryo’s cheek. Ryo rubbed over it with his hand to make the feeling disappear, his throat burning painfully by the tears he suppressed. The older one hugged the boy tightly. “Idiot! I was worried like hell.” Takki’s hands trembled a bit, but soon he released him again from his hug, remembering his anger and grabbing Ryo’s shoulders and shaking him. “Are you stupid? What were you thinking? How could you!? Do you even know how worried we were?”

He raised his arm again, but Takuya grabbed it softly to hold him back. He patted Takki’s shoulder when Ryo started to sob silently. “It’s enough.” he said calmly. “I’m sure he knows that it was wrong, right?” he softly stroked over Ryo’s face.

Ryo flinched a bit over the touch but nodded his head, not able to say anything at the moment.

Takki pulled him into a hug again. “I thought I had lost you. I thought you died. That you will never come back to me.” His voice broke over the last words, tears filling his eyes.
