Title: Arashi and the Magic Lantern: Chapter 11 (of 12): I wish for a lantern?

Genre: romance, bit angst, friendship, AU-ish (it's a magic lantern after all)
Disclaimer: I don't own them or anything else JE-related, but the story is mine of course^^
Summary: Due to unknown circumstances Aiba suddenly finds a magic lantern. What will be revealed when he opens it? A mysterious creature tells them that it will stay with them...until they won't need it anymore. Where does this ghost come from? What's its meaning and its purpose?
Suddenly the boys find themselves in the middle of unbelievable occurrences... What will happen when they have to face, not only their biggest desires, but also their deepest problems, the personal ones but also those they have with each other...?
Sho slammed the door when he rushed into Nino’s apartment, finding the other three boys sitting on the sofa in total confusion and desperation. He grabbed the photo album in front of Ohno, going through the pictures. “This…can’t be…” he stuttered. “Can’t be…”
“Apparently it can…” Nino mumbled, rubbing over his hair in confusion.
Sho found that the actor’s eyes were looking strange, he slightly wondered if he had cried before. He wasn’t the crying type normally, but of course he would feel crushed now. Aiba was one of his closest friends.
Jun took a deep breath. “Where is the lantern?”
“What?” Ohno blinked, wondering what was going through the younger one’s head.
“Yes. The one we found Ghost in?” Jun explained. “Is it still here somewhere? If we find it and Ghost is not inside, it means he is still around somewhere.”
“Yes.” Nino’s eyes grew wide at that. “And if he is inside…”
“…we’ll get him out again!” Ohno concluded.
“And ask him where Aiba is and to get him back!” Sho said fiercely.
“So?” he paused. “Who has the lantern? It’s not at mine or Jun’s place.”
Nino sighed a bit, pointing at Ohno. “We don’t have it either…”
“Oh no.” Sho closed his eyes. “That means Aiba has it…”
“And if the meaning of all this is, that the whole world is a world without Aiba…” Jun sighed. “…it means that Aiba’s apartment is also not his anymore.”
Nino carefully knocked with his fist against his head, knitting his eyebrows. “But it has to be somewhere.”
“How about we search every place we went to with the lantern?” Ohno suggested.
“Well…at least that’s something to do.” Sho agreed.
Ten minutes later each of them was on his way again, Ohno driving to his boat, Nino searching through the agency, Sho going to the restaurants they had visited while Jun went to Aiba’s apartment. He sighed a bit when he rang at the doorbell. As he had expected an unknown person opened the door. Jun bowed a bit. “Sorry.” he tried to smile as bright and politely as he could. “I guess I’m wrong here…”
The woman giggled a bit. “Whom are you searching for?”
Jun took a deep breath, forcing the words he needed to say to escape his mouth. “Do you know a certain Aiba Masaki?”
The woman blinked a bit, shrugging apologetically. “Sorry… I don’t.”
Jun sighed a bit. “No…it’s my fault. I’m the one being sorry.”
“Was he the guy living here before?” the woman asked.
Jun’s eyes widened suddenly. “Yes!” he breathed out. “Since when are you living here?”
The woman giggled a bit. “Since yesterday…” she paused. “The apartment was empty before. The one living here had just left a really old vase… or lantern… or whatever it is.”
Jun bit his lips nervously, trying to stop his hands from shivering. “And do you still have this item?”
“I’m sorry.” The woman looked at him apologetically. “I threw it away today…”
Jun nodded his head, trying to hide his disappointment, before he bowed again, chasing down the staircase, out of the door. “HEY!!” he yelled, when he found a guy who was just carrying the garbage away… Jun stopped in front of him, panting heavily. “I’m sorry…” he looked at the surprised man insistently. “One of my friends accidentally threw something away…”
The man blinked, then his eyes grew wide. “You are Arashi’s MatsuJun right?”
“Yes!” Jun had never been so glad that someone recognized him. He smiled at the man politely, bowing a bit. “Nice to meet you.”
The guy smiled brightly. “You said someone threw something important away?”
“Yes.” Jun nodded his head. “It’s a really old vase…It’s already in his family since generations…”
The man nodded his head. “We’ll find it.” he reassured the other. Jun sighed almost happily, looking how the man pulled some baskets of garbage towards him, opening them. The next hour the both of them spent with digging their way through all possible things. Jun’s panic grew with every minute that passed until the man held an item in front of his nose. “Is this the vase you were talking about?”
“YES!” Jun almost hugged the man, but got himself together last minute. He just smiled at the other. “Can I do anything for you as a thank you?”
The man laughed. “It’s okay. You are a nice guy after all.”
“Really.” Jun bowed a bit. “Anything!”
The man smiled a bit. “Alright. Could you sign a CD for my daughter then? She is such a huge fan of yours.”
Jun nodded his head, glad that he could do something for this nice man. Then he waved him a good-bye, sitting down on a park bench near Aiba’s apartment, scanning the lantern. He rubbed at it, trying to call the ghost. But no answer. So apparently Ghost was still outside somewhere. Jun’s heart made a jump at that, so Aiba was also somewhere around! He sighed a bit, wondering what to do now. He was just about to write his friends a message that he found the lantern as a sudden thought hit him. He bit his lips nervously as this thought grew, his excitement growing with every minute. Could it be that… He shouldn’t write to his friends right now as he didn’t want them to have too high hopes. He threw his phone back into his bag, grabbing the lantern and rushing back to Aiba’s former apartment.
The woman looked at him in surprise when she found him in front of her apartment again. Jun bowed deeply in front of her. “I’m so sorry!” he breathed out, looking at her through begging eyes. “Really…sorry for bothering you again!”
“It’s okay.” She blushed a bit, thinking that the guy in front of her was totally handsome and cute.
Jun smiled at her, realising that he had a chance her. “Please, excuse my impolite manners, but I have a favour to ask from you…”
