White Sand Chapter 1

Title: White Sand CHAPTER 01 (of 12)
Pairing: Sho/Yoko, later: Takki/Ryo (Ryo will appear with Chapter 3. The pairings themselves are not that much the focus of the story, but don't worry, they will be here^^)
Rating: PG-13
Genre: AU, mystery, romance, bit angst

Multi-chapter
Disclaimer: I don't own them or anything else JE-related. But the story is mine of course^^
Summary:
Out of a sudden Yoko wakes up in the middle of a wide desert, white sand all around him, just a lake and a single tree next to him. After freaking out and panicking he has to give in to this situation. Is it a nightmare? Is it reality?
When Sho, a mysterious man, suddenly appears, Yoko’s questions grow even further. But then, out of a sudden, he can’t remember it anymore. What is he fighting for? What is reality, what dream? Is Sho an enemy or his friend?
He starts to forget about the fundamental questions of his being: Why is he here? What is this place? Who is he? But then out of a sudden another young man appears, different than Yoko and still the same… remembering Yoko that he is supposed to fight - for something that he can’t remember anymore. The path between reality and dream is a small one… and a dark one. And the price Yoko has to pay might be more than just his life.
Dedicated to: Happy Birthday to [info]yukitsubute!!!!!!
Note: The chapters of this story will be a bit shorter than what I usually write. Simply because the story itself is intense enough.

Yoko’s eyelids fluttered a bit, he turned around in confusion when he felt a warm breeze brushing over his cheek. Then his eyes widened. In front of him there was nothing… just a wide, wide land full of sand. An ocean out of sand. Beside that… nothing. Where was he? What happened?

He felt his heart hammering against his chest, panic filling his body. To calm down a bit and to gather his senses, he sat down in the shadow of the only tree that was around him. The only place protecting him from the hot sun. A palm tree. Next to it a little lake with water. Apart from that there was nothing. Just wide, wide, deserted and uninhabitable land in front of him. No animals, no sound, no voices. Just deep, deep silence.

Yoko dropped down on his knees, his hands diving into the hot sand, then he tugged at his hair in desperation. “This is a dream. It is a dream…” He felt his breath hot against his hands, hotter than the air around him. “It’s a dream…” he whispered, tears of desperation glimmering in his eyes, though he still hadn’t realized and accepted hat there was no one around him who would hear him. He was alone, completely alone. Alone in the middle of nothing.

He looked at his legs and arms, realizing that he was wearing white and light clothes, things he had never seen before. This weren’t even his clothes! He had never seen such clothes before… he didn’t even know the fabric they were made of.

Yoko closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, trying to calm down. There was a rational explanation for this for sure. He just had to relax a bit and think properly. Maybe it was a dream and when he opened his eyes again the desert would be gone. But when he opened his eyes, the sight in front of him was the same. He pinched his arm when panic filled him again… but he didn’t wake up.

If this was a dream, it would be a nightmare…

If this wasn’t a dream, it would still be a nightmare…

Yoko jumped up in despair. “HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!?” he yelled out as loud as possible, his lungs filling with the warm air and making his head dizzy for a moment. He ignored this feeling, running around the lake and into the wide land. He yelled and screamed until his throat hurt from exhaustion, his naked feet burning from the hot sand. He fell down on his knees, tears of desperation and fear running over his cheeks. Without thinking any further he covered his head with his hands, sobbing and crying loudly, in a way he hadn’t cried since forever. His head started to hurt from all the sobbing, his cheeks humming from the wetness of his tears, his eyes burning.

When he came to his senses again, the sunset had already started. Yoko had never been good with geography, but he knew one thing: If he wouldn’t be fast, it would be pitch black in an hour. Then he would be lost. And he needed to find this lake again to survive in this desert. Maybe it was a strange thought to think about surviving, but Yoko couldn’t help it. He couldn’t let go without knowing what was actually going on here. Hence he got up, stumbling towards the direction he came from. After minutes of walking, he felt panic rising inside him again, believing that he was taking the wrong way. This would be his end then, definitely. But right before he could drop down on his knees again and simply give up, he saw it. To his relief he had chosen the right direction, the palm-tree and the sea right in front of him.

Tired from exhaustion he dropped down next to the sea, his feet stinging painfully from the hot sand. He sat up a bit, stretching his legs into the water of the sea to cool them down, then he dropped down on the ground again, his fingers brushing over the water.

For a moment he kept resting there, eyes heavy and swollen, body exhausted. He fell asleep like that… not knowing the difference between dream and reality anymore. How long was the night? How long the day? He didn’t understand it. With such thoughts he drifted into an exhausted sleep, not even feeling relaxed a bit when he opened his eyes again.

The sun was shining when Yoko woke up again. And to his desperation he was still lying at the same place. One part of him had hoped that it was just a dream, that he would wake up in his own bed at home now. But another part of him had expected this here.

He sighed, turning around to take a closer look at the water. He hoped it wouldn’t be salty water, otherwise he would be lost… His fingers dived into it, feeling the surprisingly cold liquid. With a clumsy movement he took a sip, feeling how some strength came back to him again.

He sat up a bit, scanning the water in front of him to think about the possibilities he had to escape from this place. When a water drop hit his cheek, Yoko startled, tensing up immediately. He blinked out of a sudden, his tired eyes widening in shock. He jumped up, pulling his hand out of the water, his heart hammering against his chest. His gaze didn’t leave the water, while he was stumbling backwards, his eyes glued to the picture in front of him, as the water was moving and turning, a swirl appearing in the middle of the lake.

When it was calm again, Yoko took a step closer again, just to jump back once more. There was something… moving inside it. But… what was that?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh SHOKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And a mystery setting, I already love it.

I am so curious where Yoko is, and what happened to him. Is it reality, is he in a kind of dream, is he in coma (is that a stupid thought?) and dreams all this stuff?!

I really felt my throat got dry when you described Yoko walking there. It's such a great mood there, and I really want to know what happened in the end?

What was that in the water? A gin? the door to another world? Something magic? Something bad, something good?

And I am really curious about Ryo and Tackey ^^ What a nice side pairing. ^^

I really love the story, and I really think you could manage it to keep the mystery alive. ^^

thanks sooooo much for writing this for me, I am totally chipper now. :DDDD

*bighugs* *hearts* And THAT ICON!!! *lol*

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! A NEW KIND OF STORY!!!!

I LIIIIKE IT!!!!! This DEFINITELY gets my interest!

Lately I seem to be seeing a different side of Sho... I've never watched any of his dramas before and am following 1 by chance 'cuz the title of the show interests me and found out later that it's Sho's latest drama, "after-dinner mysteries" something like that...

I'm interested to know how these 4 characters will meet and how they're related

U thought of me tooooooo?! *HUGGLES*

My eyes are always peeled for something new from you, so I was SUPER excited when I saw that new post last night. I was really tired as I came home late last night, but I sooooooooo wanted to read it before I went to bed.

I like the new drama so far... Sho as an expressionless but funny butler (funny due to his sharp words and actions)... I've never watched any of Sho's shows before, so am wondering to myself if he is always expressionless or was it because of the character he has to play...

Thank you for this. You are an outstanding writer--always. But, I think in these types of stories with a fantasy or paranormal element you really shine. I love the pairings and the setting is just so amazing.

I'm with Yoko. If it happened to me i would freak out. i also hate sand, so i really feel for him.

i can't wait to find out what is happening in the middle of the lake.:D

Oh and this reminds me of a poem--Dream within a Dream by Edgar Allan Poe which I will send you in a PM

Hugs, hearts, and great stories :D :D :D

lololol... I think it's just me 'cuz I've never watched any of Sho's dramas prior to this. But I like how this is a mystery comedy and I'm enjoying that drama a lot right now.

Btw, I chanced upon a RyoKame fic on kat-tun love yesterday by another writer thinking it was you 'cuz the way the title was structured is sooooooo your style and my "Friends Page" was down for the whole of yesterday for reasons beyond me.

I usually don't bother to see who wrote it until the page loads after I clicked the link and saw it's not the Ryo pic I'm used to seeing. That's when I realised it's by a different author and not the usual (actually, the only writer I'm stalking these few months)lily0.

I left a comment after reading, telling the writer that I initially got mixed up with a "writer I follow". The writer replied, "maybe you mixed me up with lilly? XD"

I thought to myself, "Akira Shocku!". Do you both know each other or what?! Or is that writer an oracle or of some supernatural being?! There's like NO WAY the writer would have known. I'm like the most low profile being in these kinda communities and especially so if I only follow just 1 writer (i.e. you) for the past half a year. Either that, or I must be really unobservant about a lot of stuff.

I just read "yuki's" reply and replied to her as well, and I'm gonna say the same thing... *jaw dropped* Talk about the world being really small now!!

Yuki?? You mean she's a Japanese living in Austria?? Or that's just her nick and she's actually an Austrian too??

Anyways she told me you both are best friends in real life and chat a lot too, so now I have a better picture... and seriously, I was shocked yesterday.

Actually, I'm still in shock... talk about bizarre coincidences. How is it I find one writer who suddenly posts a RyoKame when I was secretly hoping you would post a RyoKame soon, and when a new RyoKame fic came out, how I thought it was you 'cuz of similarity in style and it turned out to be your best friend.

I'm like *dotz*

btw, I'm LOL-ing at your profile pix now abt Ryo kissing a tree trunk thinking that it's Kame?!?!?! LOLOL

On a side note, are there any changes to your mailing address?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! 2 RyoKame Multi-chaps!!!!!!!

I CAN'T WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!! *jumps around, hands flailing*

Yup! Mine's still the same <3
