Honestly, for me it wasn't a surprise. It's sad though, because NEWS was my favourite group. But they were on inofficial hold since around one your now. And I expected Pi to go solo since some time...
And as for Ryo, he had been working double the amount during the last years. I'm not sure if his health would have made it any longer.
